Statistics for Math-Haters

I have always had a complex relationship with mathematics. Not that I was incapable of solving problems, but I could never really motivate myself to start solving a problem with zeal. I could never let out the "Oohs" and "Aahs" when it came to Maths. I still cannot. I find this subject to be as absurd as something can possibly be. Why do I have to explore the logic behind man-made ,freaky numbers? Where's the proof that 2+2 equals 4 isn't an illusion anyway? How do I know that Calculus isn't as baseless as the world being balanced on the back of a giant turtle, below which is another giant turtle and so forth! So, some guy decided to wake up one day and started "imagining" numbers. Why do I have to give in to his weird fantasies and learn complex numbers myself ?

The problem didn't get any better after school. I had got myself enrolled in a course for Computer Science and Engineering four years ago, and I regret it religiously after every 5 days.I have been actively avoiding maths ever since I started college. I skip the portions containing equations and formulae and reserve them for thennights before the exams.  I am surrounded by people who adore maths, but they thankfully never force me to share their beliefs. It is somewhat difficult for me, because this subject constitutes a part of their world, and me not understanding it makes me feel like I am not making considerable efforts towards them. However, this time, I actually decided to conquer my fear of weird shaped, man-made numbers and I wheeled myself to start studying Statistics.

This blog is nothing but a feeble attempt for me to be consistent in my efforts, to make it a little easier for people like me to grasp at the concepts of Mathematics and Data Science, and to understand a person close to me better. I shall be explaining the concepts that I pick up via stories and illustrations and I shall delve deeper into them. I hope it helps.

Thank you.
